The Wicomico County Board of Education will hold a public budget hearing at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 in the Board Auditorium at 101 Long Ave., Salisbury. All are invited to attend to give input for next year's school system budget.
Reminder: Monday, Feb. 3 is a regular school day instead of the originally approved professional day. Feb 3 will make up one of the days schools were closed due to winter weather. We look forward to seeing all of our students Monday morning for the start of the 3rd marking term and 2nd semester.

We would like to congratulate Ryleigh C. for being named a finalist in the Eastern Shore Literacy Association's Young Authors' Contest; this contest was open to students in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester, counties. This means that Ryleigh placed in the top 3 for the short story she submitted titled, "It's Going To Be A Long Road". Ryleigh will find out later in March at the awards ceremony being held at Salisbury University about her final placement. We are very proud of her and her accomplishments!
Jan. 31 is the last day of the 2nd marking term and the 1st semester. It is also an early dismissal day for students, with schools dismissing 3 hours early.

This weekend provides two opportunities to see students perform on stage, with Wicomico Middle presenting "The Big Bad Musical" today and Saturday and Wicomico High presenting "Clue" today, Saturday and Sunday. Come be entertained while supporting our talented students!
This post includes two more entertainment opportunities, including next week's audition information for the All County Musical, "Shrek." That show will be presented in the spring. In the meantime, the James M. Bennett High Rock & Roll Revival will have eight shows in the JMB Auditorium Feb.. 7-9 and 13-16, with seats reserved and tickets available now.
Students will have every class tomorrow, just for a shortened time period. They should be in homeroom by 9:25 am. (C-day for specials.)

Due to schools being closed for inclement weather on Wednesday, Jan. 22, the Superintendent's Open Door Session that was scheduled for Jan. 22 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 4-6 p.m. at the school system's main office on Northgate Drive, Salisbury.
